Overview

Carpenters in Local 46 are skilled tradespeople responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, metal, and other materials. Members uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship, safety, and solidarity while working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, metal, and other materials.
Install frameworks, furniture, cabinets, doors, windows, and flooring.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and union standards.
Collaborate with other trades and maintain a productive, respectful work environment.

Qualifications

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
Commitment to safety and union principles.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
